RESUME
Sarah Zaharanski is an actress for film and theatre. She was born in Hallein near Salzburg, Austria, and studied performing arts at Graz University of the Arts from 2008 to 2012.
She was invited to the Ruhrfestspiele Fringe Festival with her solo performance The Appointment, for which she dramatized the novel by Nobel Prize winner Herta Müller and explored her German-Romanian roots. Engagements have taken her to the Schauspielhaus Graz, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, the Schaubühne Berlin and the Salzburg Festival, among others. She has worked with Igor Bauersima, Anna Badora, Johann Kresnik, Alvis Hermanis, Konstanze Lauterbach, Lore Stefanek and Nuran David Calis.
She has lived in Vienna as a freelance actress since 2018.
Since then, she has appeared in The Unmarried at the Vorarlberger Landestheater, in Antigone at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and in Black Milk at the Schauspielhaus Graz. Since the 2021/22 season, she has been a regular guest at the Salzburg State Theatre, where she played Eva in Die Anschläge von nächster Woche, Karoline in Kasimir & Karoline, Fanny Owen in the multi-genre project The Creation of Light, Medea in The Argonauts and Megaira in The Oresteia - The Eumenides.
She works regularly for film and television and was most recently in front of the camera for the feature film Soldier Monika (director: Paul Poet / Freibeuter Film) and the TV series Fast Forward. She works as a narrator for Austrian Radio and creates her own radio plays (Radio Prize for Adult Education 2018, 1st Prize Berlin Radio Play Festival 2021, 3rd Prize Audience Award OE1 Radio Play of the Year 2022).
